Ballarat History

Commissioned by the Ballarat Italian Association as a unique case study that celebrates and records Italian migration in Ballarat, Australia's third largest inland city. While delving into the Italian migratory process, its impact on a single, large, predominantly Anglo-Celtic community and of that community on the lives of the new arrivals, provides a microcosm for what occurred in late twentieth century, multicultural Australia. La Nostra Storia traces Italian settlement since the 1850s gold rush to the late twentieth century with emphasis on the large number of , post Second World War arrivals who established the BIA in 1975. Included are many personal stories and memories which bring the history to life.
