When Marcus Aurelius Antoninus, the Emperor of Rome, penned the words in these pages, that's what he was doing.
It was never intended to see the light of day. But, we can infer that he would be glad it was found, that it may help others discover balance--The same peace, the same stillness, he cultivated while ruling an empire of historical proportions, in an incredibly hectic time.
